Stories from the Aquatic Life

We forget that the water cycle and the life cycle are one. -- Jacques Cousteau

Long before Jacques-Yves Cousteau created the Aqualung or Dive Rite produced the first commercially manufactured dive reel, Monsieur Nello Ottonelli made the first recorded cave dive in France’s Fountaine de Vaucluse, near Avignon. The year was 1878 and he descended a remarkable 23 meters into the cave.

Since that time thousands of underwater explorers have logged tens of thousands of dives around the world. They’ve penetrated the longest submerged caves. They’ve visited the deepest shipwrecks. They’ve filmed all forms of marine life, from the tiniest nudibranchs to the largest blue whales. And with every emptied tank of air, they've returned with stories.

The Dive Log is where we share these stories, from the interactive History of Cave Diving to the stories of Dive Rite Ambassadors, a select group of scientists, explorers, photographers and filmmakers and Team Dive Rite, our very own company divers.
